Walk secure.
In 2010 I took my daughter to a Christian’s Book Shop and I asked her to take something she liked for her room. At the time she was about 2 years old. Out of all the beautiful and fun things she could have chosen, she chose a Psalm 91 scroll to place on a wall in her room. At this time, I was going through a cancer diagnostic, I call it “my way to faith process” and I needed all the encouragement I could get. To have my beautiful daughter decide on something so different than what the common child would consider fun or cool, I saw God’s purpose. We started to read this Psalm 91 every night because she would always ask me to read it for her. After a few weeks of reading Psalm 91 daily, I can testify to one of God’s promises in this Psalm 91 about covering us securely under his wings. At the time that this all happened I had no faith, I was starting to learn faith.
Before getting to school one day, my little one had a doctor’s visit and this made her late to school that day. When we arrived at the parking lot where she was to be dropped off. We were the only car there. This parking lot has a small entrance that is also used as the exit. It is approximately 50 feet away from where you drop off the kids. I got out of the car and a beautiful SUV parked blocking the entrance/exit of this parking lot. I was standing in front of my car when this big, very underdressed, scruffy looking man was coming towards us. I did not know if to go, and get my daughter, or if I would have the time to get back in the car and lock it. I knew this man did not have the best intentions. So, I was quite nervous, and God let me burst saying outload that I could listen but no one else could hear the 1stverse of Psalm 91: “The one who lives under the protection of the Most High dwells in the shadow of the Almighty.” As soon as I said these words, the man that was coming straight to us just stopped 10 to 15 feet away from us. God gave me the courage to say (still nervous) with authority “What can I do for you, Sir?” The man looked disoriented and started looking around and then a few moments later asked me: “Do you know this direction?” Everyone knows the direction he asked for. I knew he was not there for directions but still told him quickly to keep going forward that he would find the road he was looking for. Glory be to God this man turned around and left! You would ask: Why? I just know that I can live to testify that Holy Spirit used my mind and mouth to reveal a Bible verse and it protected my beautiful girl and me. My favorite verse says on John 8:32 “and the truth shall set you free.” Psalm 91 is just a little part of the word of God that has been so powerful transforming my whole family’s life.
8 years later one of our leaders taught us about Psalm 91:1 being the true 911 emergency contact for every believer. I had the opportunity to share this testimony with many people and I know it has been a very powerful resource to help change them and revitalize their lives. Don’t ever forget that to connect, you only need, Psalm 91 and say out loud verse 1, and that is how you get 911 “Believer’s emergency contact number.”
Please pray with me today:
Jesus we thank you for opening our spiritual eyes and ears to hear you and see that you are with us.
Lord thank you for increasing our faith and our love for one another.
Holy Spirit I thank you for revealing the word we read and make it ours.
In Jesus name. Amen.
God loves you and so do I.
